DAY 0: We left at night. Got sick 20 minutes into the sail and went straight to my bunk. The waves were not nice, I thought at some point that I would roll out of bed.
DAY 1: Thought I would be okay but was actually dizzy all the time. Ran out of class trice to vomit until I gave up and wanted to ask the teacher to be excused from class. Never managed to get upstairs again and I decided to just stop halfway and climb on my bunk and slept for 2 hours. My teacher was nice enough to understand and I didn’t get any strikes.
DAY 2: I SAW A JELLYFISH. (Not something to brag about, since I’m supposed to look at the horizon for obstacles…) My night watch was from 6am to 9am. I was on lookout and stared at the water. The sea has never been so calm. It was like a deep blue satin sheet. We had a man overboard drill. Half a banana was stolen from the galley(kitchen).
DAY 3: “Captain? Your shirt is inside out.”
DAY 4: Woke up for night watch at 6 am. Wanted to go back to bed. Watch 4 group saw dolphins. I’m jealous.
DAY 5: I FINALLY SAW DOLPHINS. Smooth waves went back to normal waves. I was sick. I was deck hand during my daywatch and one of the AB’s told me that things at sea are okay because it could always get worse. So when someone is complaining as I, we say “but did you die?!”.
DAY 6: Alzheimer ??
DAY 7: SHIT GOT REAL. Swells were 7 meters. The ship was rocking back and forth. Food went flying. Blinders went sliding. People went falling. A crewmate broke his hand. I fell down the stairs and face planted in the dorms. Wasn’t sick at all ; mind too focused on not breaking my face, 'ya know.
DAY 8: SAW JUMPING FISHES … SAW LAND. SWEET LAND HOLY LAND Climbed up the mast to the upper top sail. Enjoyed the view of the mountains of Vigo for 2 hours up there. Got a sun burn.
We are leaving today in the afternoon to Malta. 14 days sail. No wifi. Ouch.
